Update on the roles of Car mechanic, Motor mechanic, Auto electrician, Motor vehicle technician, HGV/Bus mechanic and Vehicle body builder and repairer / Body Shop Panel Beater

The Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2025 (S.I. No. 119 of 2025) came into force on 7 April 2025. To support the vehicle maintenance and repair sector, three quotas have been extended:

• Car mechanic, motor mechanic, auto electrician and motor vehicle technician: a further 200 permits.
• HGV/bus mechanic: a further 200 permits.
• Vehicle body builder or body shop panel beater: a further 50 permits.
